Thanks for looking at this.
 
This is an Excel-to-OpenOffice gotcha - currency is treated as numeric in Excel/VBA, which is where this macro was originally written.  However, what you say makes sense, now the behaviour of the Currency type is defined in this way.
 
May I suggest a small enhancement to the online help to describe this behaviour, particularly as it differs from VBA in a way that some users converting from MS Office may not expect?  I did read the help when I had this issue, but I found nothing to suggest I was using the wrong data type.
