If I first create a document with database fields in the document and then select a row in the database sources, and then click the "Data to Fields" icon, OOo does update the document's fields with the data for whatever row I select. If this is the intended action, then I offer a suggestion: Reword the help text that comes up when you let the mouse hover over this icon. Currently, it states "Data to Fields" when extended tips are turned on. Maybe change it to say "Update document's fields with selected values."
