This issue is very similar to issue 58409 (“Error saving document: General
input/output error”) and issue 41588 (“General Input/Output Error upon saving a
.doc file “).

After working a while on either an existing OpenOffice Writer or an existing
OpenOffice Calc document with one or more other computer programmes running
simultaneously, I am unable to save the file using CTRL+S or "File/Save" and an
error message screen pops up saying:

Error saving the document <document name>. <error number>
General Error.
General input/output error.
OK-button

Contrary to issue 58409, I am always able to save the file using the "Save
As"-function, but only under a different name.
I noticed that this problem occurs only after I switched between active
windows/computer programmes, though I did not experience any problems with
excessive memory use by any of the active computer programmes when this issue
occured. I also noticed that this issues occurs while trying to save file of the
types .sxw, .sxc, .odt, .ods, .doc, .xls. I do not know whether other OpenOffice
programs have the same problem.

I am running OpenOffice 2.0.0 (American English version) on Window2000 (American
English version) with ALL the latest updates.
