I've tried to reproduce on virgin Win98 SE with the current developer build m139
of OOo2.0 . No such problem. I've seen the request for update the installer that
you've mentioned. Confirming with ok installs version 2.0.2600.2. OOo
installation starts and all components are installed.
I can't adress this as a common problem. As you have written it's not
reproducible on all your machines.
