Bringing up the printer diaglog in Writer was not enough to show the cups printers. This time I had to first bring up the list in a KDE application. But still no list of CUPS printers in a newly opened printer dialog in Writer. I had to first close my instance of Writer. Only _after_ firing it up again could I see the CUPS printer. This is no simple workaround. "analysis": IMHU this shows that it is not simply a matter of just missing the CUPS update due to slowly responding CUPS server. Perhaps Writer does not query CUPS again, until it is closed and reopened?
