What we need to exclude is that something is blocking OpenOffice.org from connecting to the Internet. If you have a personal firewall, you can add OpenOffice.org Writer to the list of allowed applications, or disable momentarily the personal firewall. Also, please report which exact version of OOo 2.0 you have. This appears in Help/About. Once you get the dialog box showing, keep Ctrl pressed while you type S, then D, then T.
