Certain characters in an equation appear as boxes when opened by MS Word. When
you edit the equation in Word, all the characters appear correctly. This defect
appears to be related to the following closed issues: #1569, #6882, #3839,
#8673, and #2192. I'm opening this new issue since all these other related ones
are closed.

The description given in the other issues describes the equation as being
correctly translated from OpenOffice.org format to MS Word, except that the
preview Word uses to initially view the equation uses a font that Windows
doesn't have. Once you edit the equation, Word creates a new preview and all
the characters appear correctly.

I'm using OpenOffice.org swriter v2.0 on a Red Hat 9 Linux system. I am trying
to view the equations on a Windows XP system using MS Office Word 2003. All the
Load/Save options are checked on (MathType to OpenOffice.org Math /
OpenOffice.org Math to MathType, etc.)

To replicate the problem, do the following:

1) Open new swriter document
2) Choose Insert->Object->Formula
3) Enter "x = (y^2)" (without the double quotes) as the equation
4) Save document as "Microsoft World 97/2000/XP (.doc)" format
5) Open document in MS Word
6) Notice that the parenthesis characters appear as white boxes (the
superscripted 2 is fine)
7) Double click on equation to open it. Click in the document to stop editing
and now the equation appears fine.
