2005 -------
I installed OOo 2.01 on a Windows XP machine and a Windows 98SE machine. The
XP intalltion seems to be fine. The Win98 installation left a lot of 'short
file names' in several directories including "C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org
2.0\program". Many of the files with the short names also had copies with the
correct filenames but at least one (stlport_vc7145.dll) did not. It showed up
as a 'missing file' error when I rebooted the computer. I tried to install the
non-Java version over 2.00 first, then removed 2.00 when the first installation
didn't seem to work and tried again. Then I downloaded the JRE version and
installed it and except for the missing file error, it seems to work.
