Please refer to snapshots-in-some-scale-factors.pdf first.

 1. Prepare a Solaris machine with Japanese font packages.
 2. Use a Japanese locale to get a default application font
name that seems to be listed in the file VCL.xcu .
    e.g. LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 ..../program/soffice
 3. Open the bugdoc.odt attached.
 4. Change zooming scale back and forth.

Bold or bold italic Japanese characters are invisible in
    certain conditions.

Some Kanji characters, complex ones, are rendered as a bitmap
or vector glyph, depending on the scale factor.

Some Hiragana characters, relatively simpler ones, are also
rendered as a bitmap or vector glyph.

Some texts that consist of both Kanji and Hiragana characters
reveal that those characters seem to be rendered with different
font files in a specific font size and scale factor.

 5. Select all texts and change their font name explicitly.
    Everything would become well.

This phenomenon was found in a QA process for releasing native language
version of OOo 2.0.1.

 1. Start Writer.
 2. Type something.
 3. Apply "Heading 2" style on it.
    The typed text disappeared.
