jsk, I don't think that's what's happening, I'm afraid. I've got a Windows
domain controller set up at home now so I can test my theories later this week.

The shortcuts don't point at nonexistent locations, they just aren't shortcuts.
When you install it manually (using Start/Run) it works fine and the shortcuts
are okay. When you publish the software using Active Directory, all the same
files get dumped on your local hard drive on installation (so when you run the
programme via Start/Run it works fine) but the shortcuts are malformed. They
*should* point at the local installation (so e.g. C:\Program
Files\OpenOffice.org 2.0\program\swriter.exe) but actually points nowhere at
all, as far as I can make out from looking at the shortcut in notepad. It
*looks* like it's some CLSID they're pointing to - does that help?
