------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Feb 9 04:47:37 -0800 2005 ------- I want to copy & paste tables from a webpage that I have on a local CD into Writer. I want to do this as I am taking a distance learning degree course and have to answer questions from a CD and send my answers back to the college. I don't want to edit the entire webpage, I just want to answer the questions. The webpages in question are very basic HTML pages containing bits of text interspersed with tables containing graphics and a question - I would have sent an example but I couldn't see how to attach a file to this description. Anyway, the various tables on these webpages contain just two columns, with a graphic in the left column and text in the right column. The graphic in question is not a hyperlink or anything, it's just sitting there looking pretty. When I copy the table from IE (in IE, I select, then Ctrl-C, have also tried right-clicking then Copy, and even Edit menu -> Copy, same problem) and then paste it (in Writer now, I do Ctrl-V, have also tried Edit menu -> Paste and Paste Special and gone through all the different formats, same problem) into Writer the graphic doesn't appear (I even toggled Graphics On/Off). It just shows up as a placeholder containing the beginning part of a URL. The Link file name for the graphic shows up as being ../../images/Tasks_Icon.jpg (I double click on where the graphic should be and go to the Graphics tab) when in fact it should be Z:/images/Tasks_Icon.jpg (my CD drive is Z). If I copy & paste the image on its own it works just fine, the Link file name then shows up as [None] (presumably it gets embedded into the Writer doc). Please note that this does not seem to happen with tables containing images selected from pages on the Internet. I have only noticed this behaviour when cutting & pasting from local files on my CD. For your info I am running OO with the default settings. I have not changed anything (I know you've heard that before ;-) since I installed it.
