I probably found out where (part of) the problem was.
I did not have the "openoffice.org2-filter-so52" package installed: so I had no
filters for using StarOffice's templates and/or files.

However, while opening a SO52 file correctly resulted in a form asking me for
the file format, I still cannot understand the "template" behaviour. Shouldn't
OOo just say "I cannot use that template because I don't recognize its format"
instead of crashing?

Thanks anyway,

Marco.
