Screendump word2000.png shows the results of opening this file with Word 2000. Double-clicking on the embedded file opens that embedded file in a new window. Screendump ooo114.png shows the results of opening this file with ooo114 (on linux with load/save microsoft office options ticked for winword, excel and powerpoint. Double-clicking on the embedded file opens that embedded file in a new window just like Word 2000. Screendump ooo201.png shows the results of opening this file with ooo201 (on linux with the same options as the ooo114 setup). This is not the same as ooo114 or Word 2000. This difference is secondary. In ooo201, double clicking on the embedded file produces screendump ooo201-2.png. The embedded file is opened in place in the outer/containing document and has the same size as the original icon. This is very definately not the same as ooo114 or Word 2000. When the embedded file is a 10-12 page document, it is impossible to work with the embedded file in ooo201.
