------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Jan 15 15:04:01 -0800 2006 ------- Dear nostromog, I use Kubuntu (Ubuntu breezy 5.10 + KDE 3.5) on intel x86 machine (a K7 actually). The default locale is es_ES-UTF-8. I had not asian CTL enabled, but after enabling I do read in teh file by either of the three methods above without a crash. Are you using MacOS X?, that's another platform different from "Linux" set in OS header. Your system is definitely diffrent from mine. If I type CTRL+Shift+4321 in gedit I get "4321" numbers, nothing more. I'm sorry, I am no Unicode geek, just another end-user. Have you sent the crash report using the ad hoc tool?
