Here's what I just did. It makes no sense to me, but maybe it'll help you.

I ran each of ooffice2, oocalc2, oowriter2, ooimpress2, oodraw2, oomath2, and
ooweb2 from the command line, with no arguments. Of these, oocalc2, ooimpress2,
and oodraw2 exhibited the problem. When I saw that the problem existed, I moved
and resized the windows down to a reasonable level, closed them, and restarted
the application, only to find in each case that the problem was still there.

Then, I tried running "ooffice2 mypresentation.ppt". The problem did not show
up; the window was completely on-screen, exactly the same size as it had been
last time I ran ooffice2.

Then I ran "ooimpress2 mypresentation.ppt". It opened in a normal-sized window
this time. Which was strange because I have never seen Impress do that, not even
when started this way in the past. I think the previous command may have had
some side-effect that fixed it.

Now when I run ooimpress2 from the command line, it does not show the problem.
oocalc2 and oodraw2 still do.
