Just today I downloaded 2.0.154 for linux (not FC4 specifically) from a developer subdirectory on a mirror site. It displays correctly, almost identical to the same file on Windows XP. (Of course it won't display correctly unless one has the correct fonts installed, but I had already tried to be careful with that.) Problem solved! Sorry I bothered you.
