You somehow managed to get a trailing space after the DirectX SDK path. The whole --with-directx-home=... thing was a red herring. That switch is not needed to reproduce that problem as configure can find the location of the DirectX SDK without that switch. (from $DXSDK_DIR). So somehow you had a broken path entry and set_soenv.in choked on it. I verified that having the DirectX SDK in "c:/Program Files/Microsoft DirectX SDK (December 2005)/" works fine.
