I did as you recommends and reran fc-cache. I also edited my local fonts.config file and made use of the rejectfont element. This has reduced my start-up time from 1:40 to 0:30. Well, 0:30 the first time I measured it. On repeated measurements (after exiting OOo completely), it has now dropped to 0:07. Is this due to memory and file system caching, or is OOo doing something?
