OOo 2.0.2 and later will generate a replacement graphic of reasonable quality
when no preview is available and when you have one of the following programs
installed pstoedit, convert (from ImageMagick) or ghostscript. (see issue 9290)
When you save the eps with preview, OOo displays that preview. That is always
low-quality (well- what can you expect from a preview)..
OOo doesn't include a postscript interpreter and thus cannot render the
postscript by itself. (see issue 14163)
To get high-quality printouts, use a postscript-printer (or something that can
print postscript to your real printer, such as ghostscript.
Or alternatively don't include a preview in the eps and use OOo 2.0.2 and let it
generate a better-quality replacement.
