Grammatically, especially for hyphenation, it is not a character, it is a
punctuation mark. You don't say "Sh*t!!" is a 6-letter word because there are 2
exclamation marks. If a user sets 4 characters in hyphenation, then that means 4
Alphabetical characters, NOT including punctuation.
