The 680 directory usually contains developer builds which do not overwrite released versions because they have a different application module name and because it has a different default instalation location. You're right with your opinion that it might be useful but it was a bit late for 2.0.2 RC4 to have this information added to the index.html and index-nojs.html pages. Today I changed the pages because I was able to use it again for OOo-Dev2.0 builds (src680_m158). Before it was blocked by 2.0.2rc4.
