Trying to paste some unformatted text into the following components generates
dialog box error

'Requested clipboard format is not available'

Writer
Calc
Writer/Web (HTML editor)

and in the following components absolutely nothing happens.

Draw
Impress

(I've raised this against word processor because I use that the most, but as you
can see, its suite wide, albeit with slightly different symptoms for the
components that think in terms of pictures)

I've just downloaded and installed the 2.0.2 British English installation; I
originally had this issue on a pre-2.0 release (beta2?)

I'm running windows XP pro SP2.

Now the issue gets mucky:

I'm running it inside VMWare 5.5.1 build-19175 hosted on Suse 9.3, on a
dual-xeon box (four processors incl. hyperthreading) kernel 2.6.11.4-20a-bigsmp
and 3gb RAM. The virtual machine is configured with 512mb RAM. (so I don't
beleive its a memory issue, which I've seen affecting the windows clipboard)

I run the virtual machine with remote desktop enabled, and I access windows XP
using rdesktop Version 1.3.1 (a linux terminal services client). this is the
off-the-shelf version with suse 9.3

if it helps build a picture, I run a xinerama setup, with the rdesktop screen
completely filling one screen, and linux only on the other. Obviously linux apps
can move freely over the whole desktop.

what I'm trying to do is copy and paste from linux applications on the host
system into writer documents on the rdesktop session within windows. For example
... xterms, firefox, sylpheed (email) etc.

by 'copy' I mean both highlighting text to get it into the linux clipboard, and
edit/copy

The content crosses into windows as "unformatted text" and I can paste into MS
word, notepad etc just fine.

Openoffice.org 2.x doesn't like it though. And it doesn't like it 100% of the
time.

I *think* I was running OOo 1.1.3 or 1.1.4 on pretty much the same setup. Didn't
have this issue. But, if its important, I need to check this, as I can't
remember for certain.

Having seen the way that Excel puts rich content into the clipboard, and kind of
'serves' the content rather than cleanly dispatching the content and then
forgetting about it, I can appreciate that the clipboard isn't the static entity
it appears to be, and so OOo might be having problems because of that. Though
... unformatted text? That wouldn't normally be 'served' on demand through the
clipboard.

I have to transfer the content via something like notepad, and then paste, still
as unformatted text, into OOo. (so ... its not a windows issue or rdesktop issue
per se; I can get the content into windows ok)

Obviously a lot of variables. I'm happy to try different things if it helps:

* pasting into the native VMWare console (I'd have tried it now, but I'm using
the windows session to raise this ticket!)
* different linux rdp client(s) (please suggest something you believe works)
* OOo 1.1.5 etc

Can't try a different windows release because it needs to support rdesktop.

thanks in advance for your assistance
