Obviously, using $ in this way is a special operation in OOo. (Just like another strange solution "find \n and replace it with \n" to convert line breaks into paragraph breaks). So it must be documented. In fact, in the help file, it is very difficult to land on the topic that describes how to search/replace paragraph break and line break. Please create the necessary index entries to highlight this.
