I just had a quick glance at the source, this:

I like this idea, but after looking at the code ( The main Make() function in
make.c ) this might be a little more complicated. I wanted to understand that
part of dmake anyway, but it might take a while until I come to it.

Any idea for an attribute name? ;)

And, no I also don't want dmake to update the timestamp of the target files,
