TL->QA:

It might be a good idea to verify this issues with no OpenSymbol/StarSymbol font
installed. Thus both fonts should be deinstalled. And because of OpenOffice
registering the font temporarily while running and de-registering it when closed
there must also no OpenOffice running in the background and it must never have
crashed since the system has booted.
Thus basically: deinstall the fonts, reboot and check that the fonts are not
available e.g. by starting Word and check that the fonts are not available in
the list of fonts.
And be sure that the Office does not crash in the meantime or you have to reboot
again!

Since odt and odf both uses XML/MathMl both should be checked.

Things to check:

a) make sure the 4 testdocuments added by me can properly read with the CWS.
Especially if the formula gets activated everything should still be Ok.
b) when using the formula text in the above 4 documents to create a similar
new documents with the CWS and saving those documents the should be readable
by older Office versions as well.
c) exporting the two newly created odf formulas to mml should render proper
results when viewed in another application that can read MathML
   (e.g. Mozilla or Firefox).
I think Mozilla shows the original problem (see sample document of submitter)
whereas Firefox was already smart enough if the fonts were available.

Note 1: the formula "nroot 3 x" is exported incorrectly to MathML. But since it
is a different issue that is already existing in then current version it should
be addressed separately.

Note 2: Of course everything working fine depends on having other fonts
installed that have the used characters at the correct unicode points.
If for example no font on the system has a greek small gamma at 0x03B3 in the
font nothing will be displayed.
