To reproduce the bug:
   Open a new drawing
   Insert the image attached
   Crop the image so the red target is basically the only visible portion
   Draw an ellipse over the red target
   Select the image and the ellipse
   Perform Modify->Shapes->Intersect

You should see part of the background, no red target.

The image came from the xsane package (and was modified using GIMP).

If you save from GIMP to a PNG image, and toggle off "Save Resolution", the bug
is not reproducable...  So, this is a work-around.

However, it appears that the resolution tag on the image is causing some 
problems.

This is my first bug submission, and I can't seem to find the attachment button.
 I hope there's a dialog after this which allows me to attach -- or perhaps edit
the bug after submission...
