@pmladek: I found a way to reproduce it. You don't need to attach the *pfb and
*afm.
@pl: In the human-readable PDF the embedded font CenturySchL-Roma with just the
odieresis the metrics are wrong:

The PDF would look perfect if the "Widths" were [500] instead of [610]. Since
the *afm file claims the odieresis width actually is 500
C -1 ; WX 500 ; N odieresis ; B 34 -15 466 644 ;
I wonder where the wrong 610 comes from. Psprint's fontmanager.cxx?
