I agree with this. I'll work on this to get the fix in by the next snapshot. The fix shouldn't be too complicated. 2) values in solver window should be saved in the document. That's what the Save and Load buttons are for (do you have these buttons in your Ubuntu version?) When you hit Save, your solver model gets stored as a metadata in your document, but note that you still need to save your document to commit it into the file. Maybe a nice information dialog telling the user that he/she still needs to save the document to permanently save the model would be a nice option.
