------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Jun 6 09:32:41 -0700 2006 ------- from the link above - http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/pdf/ index_reference.html , we see the following text: The PDF Reference provides a description of the Portable Document Format and is intended for application developers wishing to develop applications that create PDF files directly, as well as read or modify PDF document content. So quite clearly there are no issues with Adobe in writing software to import a pdf and modifying it, other than that end-users respect the copyright of any document they may choose to edit. Scribus does do this reasonably well but I wish to work with OpenOffice. In view of the increased use of pdf it would be very nice to have the capability to import pfd into OpenOffice.
