I have tried the other wizards and they seem to work That is how I start all the OOo Applications. Here is what happens with Base: When I click the menu item, an icon appears in the application bar (the bar that shows what applications are running and shows the workspace swither). It appears there for a few seconds then disappears - no error messages or other windows open. I have since tried to install some other applications - SWAT, Wine - and the results seem to be the same. clicking the icon in the menu will show the icon in the application bar, but then disappears after a few seconds.
