I was dead sure that it had something to do with the system lockup, as I don't remember any package upgrades at the time (and I do these daily), and Calc/Write were running fine up to the crash. Please change the status to fixed/resolved. A bug report for libfreetype6 on Debian has already been filed by someone else.
