Accessing a MySQL database from within the database application causes a
tempoay application hang, reported via the MS windows task manager as "none
responsive" application. In this event, the counters for I/O read and wrote
bytes for the MySQL demon process increase, which I deduce to be data access
and communication. Now, I would expect there to be a handshaking or
applicaction lock within the openoffice database program causing the
application to enter an unresponsive period, which looks to correspond to a
data fetch from the database. The duration is usually for approx 1/2 to 1
minute.
