------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Jul 7 06:05:34 -0700 2006 ------- Our client (planning to migrate 1500 persons to OOo...) regularly receives from an external institution an mdb (Access) file with 70k+ entries (more than the 65k barrier). The file contains 16 columns of var (we can't send the file, it's cinfidential). They used to open that file with excel and run some "data pilot" functionalities. Excel 2003 would do that in seconds. With OOo, opening the mdb file takes more than 20 minutes... Then, after opening it, operating a popup menu of displayed fields to operate a new computation takes minutes. We tried on mac and win: same problem. We tried with jdbc (on mac) against a postgresql db (after importing the mdb data). It still takes 5 minutes (excel takes seconds only). So the problem does not seem to be the mdb format directly. We noted (by sniffing the network) that there are many "select * from..." statements, each returning the full db (70k entries)... We noted that 2.0.2 is much slower even. So some progress has been made on 2.0.3.
