@ace_dent: We noticed that e.g. in Impress most use cases have downscaled
images. E.g. especially in the slide sorter view. Even for full screen
presentations many images still need to be downscaled, because the display
resolution is still orders lower than the resolution of even cheap scanners or
cameras.

So for big images the non-downscaled images is rare in OOo. So even if the
additional cost for non-downscaled interlaced PNG decoding was 50% higher than
the alternative it would still be worth it, because the more usual case is
easily 10x times faster in interlaced mode. The limit of 128x128 is debatable of
course. It is still bigger than most slide previews. Of course we need to
benchmark more...
