POSIX standards are here:

http://www.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/009695399/functions/dlopen.html
http://www.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/009695399/functions/dlsym.html

FreeBSD (possibly other *BSDs, too) acts differently. I will be more
than happy if anyone can implementLinux/Solaris compatible dlopen()/dlsym()
algorithm for FreeBSD. But for now, I believe we have to live with it.
Can we just add #ifdef's in there for now until we sort these things out?

FYI, I think the following post is the same issue:

Sorry for the late response.
