Using OOo Writer to create a newsletter, I struggled to generate a PDF which
Adobe software would not reject. I have now pinned this down to a reasonably
small example. Create a new text document; Insert picture from file... choose
the (attached, when I work out how to do that) WMF graphic; leave other options
as default and click OK. Now File > Export as PDF. The PDF won't open with at
least Adobe Reader 6.0 - it reports "An unrecognized token '' was found."

A friend reports that the PDF seems to contain the literal text %s where some
substituted token is expected, as if a printf format string is misused. I don't
have the tools needed to analyze PDF files, but I hope this is enough
information that you can.
