User dr changed the following: What |Old value |New value ================================================================================ Status|NEW |RESOLVED -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resolution| |WONTFIX -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Sep 5 04:17:50 -0700 2006 ------- Cannot fix this - root cause seems to be a different font replacement in Excel and Calc. Excel does not use a fixed column width internally, but units based on the width of the "0" character of the default font. For example, a column width may be set to "10 times the width of the character 0". If the default font ("DejaVu Sans" in our example) is not available on the system, another similar font is used. Excel seems to fall back to "Arial", but Calc to something else, maybe "Verdana" or "Lucida". This results in a slightly wider "0" character in Calc, thus in wider columns after import. You can try this in Calc and Excel: Insert ten "0" characters into a cell of column B (with leading apostroph, '0000000000). In both applications, the last 0 should end on the right border of the column. Seems that the fall back mechanism has been changed in OOo between 2.0.2 and 2.0.3. It should not be a big problem, if the file is exported to Excel again, the old original column width of Excel is restored again. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
