Save the file as an excel file. 4. Open in Excel. - Excel 2000 and earlier will crash when you attempt to reposition fields in the pivot table. - Excel 2003 and 2007 shows an error message "The PivotTable is not valid" when you attempt to reposition fields in the pivot table.
