OpenOffice has no proper way to identify and set the default printer destination
for normal users on a multiuser system.

Normal users should *NEVER* have to go into something like "spadmin" just to set
their personal, default printer. On most systems, the user default is already
known and stored in $LPDEST. It appears that OpenOffice simply ignores all the
standard and well-known Unix/Linux methods for user system-wide printer
selection.

OpenOffice absolutely should honor the $LPDEST or $PRINTER environment
variables. OO doesn't even honor $HOME/.lpoptions! This would immediately
solve the problem and require no user interface changes. Almost all other
Unix/Linux applications honor $LPDEST, at a minimum.
