The code adds optional argument support, and elides it on export to XML (ODF) for compatibility. So - on import - things work that were broken, on export we generate ODF that will (mostly) work on re-import in an old version, on export to XLS we are much more transparent, and people can use optional args in various places in their formulae as they enter them.
