------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Oct 11 11:09:03 -0700 2006 ------- The Space Above Paragraph and Space Below Paragraph are means to get desirable vertical spacing between paragraphs. However, they are being added together instead of using MAX(1st_paragraph.below, 2nd_paragraph.above). Adding the two values makes it difficult to specify aesthetic spacing, as a document designer has to consider the interactions between EVERY pair of styles, n-squared interactions. Using the max of the below and above spacing for adacent paragraphs gives better control of the look of the document. Max spacing is easier to specify, as you can specify at least "ta" spacing above all tables, and at least "tb" spacing below all tables, and the same for paragraph styles. This is simpler, as a document designer has to consider the spacings for only the "n" paragraph types. This spacing option is the default in Framemaker. Please provide a global option to choose between additive spacing above/below paragraphs and maximum spacing above/below paragraphs.
