Please ... - open writer - enter any word - select the word - right-click the selection "Charcter..." - in the "Position"-Tab select "Subscript" - disable "Automatic" - confirm with OK - again select the word and open the "Position"-Tab of the "Character"-window - Note that the checobox "Automatic" is grayed out now. - Do a click on the already selected radio button. - Now the checkbox "Automatic" is correctly not grayed out.
