@ianleckey:
WRT the third gull please read my comments about togboon's proposal on our
mailing list:
http://marketing.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=art&msgNo=2225

Adding a gradient to the logo has been discussed on the list, but we didn't come
to an end by now.
My personal opinion is that there are some places a gradient is not really good
to be distinguished, but your proposal doesn't reduce readability by becoming
too bright. So I might be a good idea to discuss it again on the list.

You didn't use the condensed font to keep near to the present logo font, perhaps
this might be a possibility to improve the proposal.

About the rounded rectangle making the logo look like a button: It reduces the
possibility to use the logo in special surroundings (adding the positioner,
integrating in artwork), so I don't want to integrate the border in the main
logo.

As web button it is a good idea and there it should be used IMHO.

Thanks - and keep on working :-)

Bernhard
