I understand what your saying, but I don't understand how this is implemented 
exactly.  I mean how does one set or unset the Hard formatted parts compared 
to the others ?  And how does a new user know this and deal with it ? 

If the source was a MS Excel document, such as this case, and a new user 
wanted to change formatting, like I did, wouldn't this just foster frustration 
for this user rather then a benefit ?  Maybe its more an import/filter 
concern ??
