Hi hro,

Just a thought in relation to:

"System tray area is not intended for such things. Task bars or band objects are
a better way to do this if you want fast access to applications/functionality
outside the startmenu."

You are probably correct that the system tray area is not intended for such
things. But OOo 1 team made "a mistake" and introduced the feature.

Then lots of people liked it and found it better then the "intended" way to do
things.

So, the OOo1 team actually made an "innovation" (on purpose or not) and it's
generally a good move to keep innovations better than the competitors where
there is user demand and it's practical.

Looks like user demand is present, but I'm not the decider for "Practical"
though. :)

Regards and best wishes,

Justin Clift
