2005 -------
I just started having this problem after re-compiling my desktop manager, but i
don't think it's their
problem. I think it has something to do with X, but again: i'm not sure. here's
what happens:

i canno itialize ooffice (the executible) from anything but the console. if i
try, nothing happens (say,
from an icon, or - with fvwm - initiating it through a command sequence).

this is what i get in .xsession-errors:

/usr/local/bin/ooffice-wrapper: line 2: 17275 Segmentation fault
/usr/bin/ooffice

'ooffice-wrapper' is a shell script (yes, it's executible) that contains only
two lines:

#!/bin/sh
/usr/bin/ooffice

the people at xorg suggested that i make a wrapper script, to no avail. i CAN
execute ooffice-wrapper
from the console, and it runs OpenOffice just fine. in other words, i can't
seem to initialize oooffice
through the desktop manager. this is the only program that's doing this, so i
have no clue why. i use
gentoo, so i'm updating my system pretty often. this started happeneing,
though, when i started
compiling glibc and gcc with locales. i haven't done that with OOo yet; could
that be the cause?

i can provide strace information, if that'd help. please let me know what i
need to do to fix thic,
because it's annoying having to start OOo from the console.

thanks,

ee
