------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Nov 8 13:16:39 -0800 2006 ------- I have been trying to compile and install Open Office 2.0.3 on BLFS system using gcc-4.1.1. The first time I tried it balked out on epm. As I have epm installed, open office setup tried to package it with epm and epm complained about the package name having characters other than letters and numbers !! I cleaned up the source tree and recompiled by specifying --disable-epm and compiled it with in tree mozilla. It compiled successfully. Now, when I want to installit, I see that there's no directory named OpenOffice under instsetoo_native/unxlngi6 !! Now at this stage I really don't know how to proceed. BLFS doesn't use any package management system. Hence, I expected OpenOffice build to create a directory structure and leave all the necessary files in there which, I could simply copy over to the destination and it would just wor from there ! I tried a bit of googling but, it leads me to all irrelevant pages with most of them centered on windows setup. Fortunately enough, I stumbled upon a page on openoffice.org that briefly summarizes the build process. From there I learned that, the build process outputs all binaries, libs, includes etc. to the directory solver. When I look into the directory solver/680/unxlngi6.pro, I do see several directories - bin, lib, inc, rdb, res etc. Thses in turn hold the libs and binaries etc. Now, I know where the finished product lies. What I'm mused over is - when I copied the contents of this directory it didn't work. It complained of missing localization files. So, it has to be different directory setup, right ? How do I create a tar.gz file or for that matter how do I tell build to create the necessary directory structure and deliver all the files to the right place ? And, then I simply copy it over to the destination. I know, this whole thing has taken up a space of ~5GB and I don't know where to look for the finished product. Is there a site where I can see a list of all the files that will/should be installed ? Here's how I ran the configure script: ---------------------------------------- export KDEDIR=/opt/kde-3.5.2 && ./configure --prefix=/opt/openoffice-2.0.3 --enable-libart --disable-fontooo --without-fonts --with-system-stdlibs --with-system-freetype --with-system-expat --with-system-libxml --with-system-zlib --with-build-version=BLFS --with-package-format=native --disable-binfilter --enable-libsn --enable-kde --enable-build-mozilla --disable-epm ------------------------------------------- Here's the last few lines from compilation output: --------------------------SNIP--------------------------------- /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/instsetoo_native/packimages ------------- mkdir ../unxlngi6.pro/res/img find /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/default_images/res/commandimagelist -name "*.png" | sed "s#/home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/default_images/res#%GLOBALRES%#" | /usr/bin/perl /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/solenv/bin/sort.pl > ../unxlngi6.pro/res/img/commandimagelist.ilst.unxlngi6.pro /usr/bin/perl /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/solenv/bin/diffmv.pl ../unxlngi6.pro/res/img/commandimagelist.ilst.unxlngi6.pro ../unxlngi6.pro/res/img/commandimagelist.ilst Updating "../unxlngi6.pro/res/img/commandimagelist.ilst". /usr/bin/perl /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/solenv/bin/packimages.pl -g /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/default_images -m /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/default_images -c ../util -l /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/solver/680/unxlngi6.pro/res/img -l ../unxlngi6.pro/res/img -o ../unxlngi6.pro/bin/images.zip packimages -- version: 1.14 packimages: packing ../unxlngi6.pro/bin/images.zip finished. /usr/bin/perl /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/solenv/bin/hicontrast-to-theme.pl /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/default_images ../unxlngi6.pro/misc/hicontrast && touch ../unxlngi6.pro/misc/hicontrast.flag /usr/bin/perl /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/solenv/bin/packimages.pl -g /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/default_images -m /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/default_images -c ../util -c /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/ooo_custom_images/hicontrast -c ../unxlngi6.pro/misc/hicontrast -c /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/ooo_custom_images/industrial -l /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/solver/680/unxlngi6.pro/res/img -l ../unxlngi6.pro/res/img -o ../unxlngi6.pro/bin/images_hicontrast.zip packimages: WARNING skipping non-existing directory: '/home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/ooo_custom_images/hicontrast' packimages -- version: 1.14 packimages: packing ../unxlngi6.pro/bin/images_hicontrast.zip finished. /usr/bin/perl /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/solenv/bin/packimages.pl -g /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/default_images -m /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/default_images -c ../util -c /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/ooo_custom_images/industrial -c ../unxlngi6.pro/misc/industrial -c /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/ooo_custom_images/industrial -l /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/solver/680/unxlngi6.pro/res/img -l ../unxlngi6.pro/res/img -o ../unxlngi6.pro/bin/images_industrial.zip packimages: WARNING skipping non-existing directory: '../unxlngi6.pro/misc/industrial' packimages -- version: 1.14 packimages: packing ../unxlngi6.pro/bin/images_industrial.zip finished. cd ../unxlngi6.pro/misc && gunzip -c /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/external_images/ooo_crystal_images-1.tar.gz | ( tar -xf - ) && touch crystal.flag chmod -R g+w ../unxlngi6.pro/misc/crystal /usr/bin/perl /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/solenv/bin/packimages.pl -g /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/default_images -m /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/default_images -c ../util -c /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/ooo_custom_images/crystal -c ../unxlngi6.pro/misc/crystal -c /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/ooo_custom_images/industrial -l /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/solver/680/unxlngi6.pro/res/img -l ../unxlngi6.pro/res/img -o ../unxlngi6.pro/bin/images_crystal.zip packimages: WARNING skipping non-existing directory: '/home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/ooo_custom_images/crystal' packimages -- version: 1.14 packimages: packing ../unxlngi6.pro/bin/images_crystal.zip finished. /home-dir/BLFS/wd/OOffice/OOC680_m7/instsetoo_native/util No EPM: do no packaging at this stage ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Out of the ~5GB of data churned out, I expect to install at least ~300MB but, dunno where it is and what it looks like !!
