It would be great if there were a checkbox labeled "Show animations and slide
transitions" that users could uncheck. Hopefully this option would be easily
discoverable, e.g. accessible from the menu bar.

Usecase 1: Edna, a teacher, has a slow laptop. Excruciatingly slow. She wants
to disable effects on her laptop so she can show the slideshows that her
textbook's author emailed her at reasonable speed.

Usecase 2: Jason, a computer enthusiast, wants to view a .PPT file he found on
the web with nice large fonts (slideshow size.) But he doesn't want to have to
click 5 times to view a slide. He wants the whole show to show up at once.
