Each of them could be done individually, or all combined. All of this stuff in one HTML page, much easier to read with images inline can be found here: http://www.pangea.at/~ralph/templates+documents_dialog/ The Dialog now ============== http://www.pangea.at/~ralph/templates+documents_dialog/templates-documents-statusquo.png Visual Grouping =============== Is perceived as grouped into three parts above eachother: http://www.pangea.at/~ralph/templates+documents_dialog/visual-stress-now.png but it should IMHO be more like http://www.pangea.at/~ralph/templates+documents_dialog/visual-stress-more-logical.png therefore: Improve visual distinction between the three parts (horizontally) by spacing, inserting dividers, colouring or any other means. See how this would also break up the "false toolbar" (this is not *one* toolbar!) as shown in this (a bit sloppy) mockup: http://www.pangea.at/~ralph/templates+documents_dialog/templates-documents-visual-distinction.png Replace "Preview" and "Properties" Icons with Text ================================================== The culprits: http://www.pangea.at/~ralph/templates+documents_dialog/templates-documents-visual-distinction.png This is heresy: While the current icons are a lot better than the previous ones, simply writing "Preview" and "Properties" into the toggle buttons would make them *a lot* more obvious.
