Could not get either the Cntrl nor the Apple key to work properly. However, in 2.0.4, the Meta key is the Cntrl key and it works well. Giving this an educated guess, xale would like to use the Apple key as the meta key. Leaving as unconfirmed, I could not find anywhere in any menu that used the CMD/Apple key as a Meta key.
